Autumn is my favourite time of year, mainly because here in Melbourne we still get summery weather but with cooler evenings and nights. Warm afternoons stretch into evenings with great sunsets because of daylight saving, and in general I get much more pleasure from my wardrobe.
I find dressing in hot temperatures really hard, by the end of the day feeling crumpled and sweaty which let’s face it, is never chic. Sandals are cute but I get sick of not wearing ‘proper’ shoes and seem to over-compensate by wearing lots of jewellery. I suppose you could say that my fashion intuition just gets thrown right off course. Throw in some humidity and I start to hibernate in the air-conditioning like a polar bear.
Autumn on the other hand is when my fashion nous finely tunes again and out come the layers, ankle boots, ballet flats, scarves and jackets. You might not need to wear them all the time, but I like having them there as an option, sort of like a safety blanket.
Tell me I’m not alone in this way of thinking?!
So here’s to the last rays of summer with this dress which I loved wearing, but am ready to pack away to make room for my coats. See you next year old friend 😉
