You know when you find an item that can make your wardrobe work, like a striped breton tee or a classic trench coat? Well, this vintage lace jacket is one of those pieces for my wardrobe (which is eclectic at the best of times let’s face it). You might be thinking, do I need a lace jacket to tie all of my pieces together? And now that I own one, I would argue, yes!
This was an op-shop find, that I first spied across the aisle when another woman held the jacket up in an indecisive fashion as if to say, ‘Hmmmm, I’m not sure about you.’
I was sure immediately but said to myself, be cool lady, be cool because right at that moment she turned her head and we locked eyes. She recognised the desire writ on my face and just as she was about to put it back on the rack, snatched it back and walked off. Obviously I must have looked more like a pleading puppy than Uma Thurman cool in Pulp Fiction. But I wasn’t going to give up that easily.
I stalked her around the store, casually picking items up here and there feigning interest but all the while with one eye on the jacket. After she went into the change rooms I hung around nearby not wanting to miss someone else snagging it if she didn’t want it. Moments later she emerged through the change room doors, looked at me and said, ‘It’s all yours!’ and handed me the jacket.
So there you go, a little story about this gorgeous jacket and a peek at how it looks with some of my more feminine pieces. Looking forward to wearing it with some leather, skinny jeans and a tee, gold jewellery and all of my floral dresses. Stay tuned for that!
