You’re winter beauty guide is here!
Can your skin change with the seasons? Well, yes and no. If you practice good skincare all year round you should find that your skin should be fairly consistent. Remember this post I wrote ages ago about skin peels?
That said, freezing cold days, wind and heating can put pressure on your skin, resulting in dryness, itchiness and flare ups. Here’s four products that have come across my desk that have helped get my skin through winter so far. Got any suggestions? I’d love to hear!
Egyptian Magic
All Purpose Skin Cream
It’s a celebrity favourite but can this cream live up to its name? And what….is it? Funnily enough, Egyptian Magic consists of only six ingredients, blended together to the consistency of balm rather than cream. Honey, beeswax, olive oil, royal jelly, bee pollen and bee propolis. That’s it. The feeling can be a little bit greasy, and it might take a little while to absorb, but as I’ve learned you don’t need much of it. I’ve used it as a primer under makeup and it looked FABULOUS.
Bio Oil
New packaging, same formulation for this cult product. They’re very careful to point out that scars, stretch marks and age marks cannot be removed with Bio Oil, rather its used as a treatment to lessen the appearance of such things. Similarly to Rosehip oil or even the aforementioned Egyptian Magic, used sparingly but often you should see a difference in your skin, particularly if its dehydrated.
Charlotte Tilbury
Hollywood Flawless Filter
Who doesn’t want to look like they’re a walking talking instagram filter? It’s called ‘Flawless’ and that’s pretty much what you’ll get with this great product from Charlotte Tilbury. You can use it in a couple of different ways depending on the effect you wish to achieve( see this handy tutorial on their website). I like to use it all over my face and then apply my foundation on top. You can reverse that process, or use it as a highlighter. Whatever the case, it’s one of those products that actually works and is a new favourite of mine.
Lanoline Lano
Rose Hand Cream Intense
Don’t forget your hands! I’m not a huge fan of hand creams, specially ones that feel greasy or slimy. But I am a fan of anything that can help with dry cuticles and skin around my nails. This is a nifty little product that doesn’t promise the earth but delivers lovely results. Another addition to your winter skin regime.
