Melbourne Fashion Week has launched for 2018 with acting Lord Mayor Arron Wood today announcing this year’s Melbourne Fashion Week (MFW) full program and revealing Australian actor and model Pia Miller as this year’s ambassador.
It was a chilly six degrees as we gathered on the Portico balcony of the resplendent Melbourne Town Hall to meet Pia, catch a glimpse of some of the ‘faces’ of the week and to meet some of the students who will have their work showcased on the runway.
The edgy new Underground Runways will be held in the quintessentially Melbourne Campbell Arcade
(Degraves Underpass), showcasing looks from some of the city’s most exciting design talent and pushing
the boundaries of the traditional runway setting.
The MFW Town Hall Forecourt will again sit at the heart of the event, housing brand activations, pop-up
fashion showcases, talks, fashion short films and music throughout the entire week.
For the fourth consecutive year, City of Melbourne is partnering with Vogue Australia to bring Vogue
American Express Fashion’s Night Out (VAEFNO) to MFW, Friday 31 August. VAEFNO will kick off
MFW’s Opening Weekend, with retail offers extending through to Saturday. For the first time, the event will start at midday on Friday, giving shoppers an additional five hours to take advantage of the special offers and activities around the CBD. Huzzah!
It will be Lady Melbourne’s 10th Melbourne Fashion Week so I’m really looking forward to seeing everything and of course, sharing it all with you.
