I thought I’d end 2017 by sharing with you a special experience I had recently at Domaine Chandon winery. And before we go any further – yes, that’s a chopper!
I was invited with a guest to be flown to the winery for the day to experience their newly refurbished visitor centre and celebrate 30 years of the wineries establishment.
It was exciting to say the least, not only because of the chopper but upon arrival (and many glasses of Chandon later) we were ferried into the vineyard to plant our own vines. They will be tended to and grow to produce fruit that will be used in Chandon wines in about three years time. I’ve thought of that little vine many times since and I hope I can go back and visit it in the years to come.
Lunch followed accompanied by excellent conversation and you guessed it, more sparkling and then it was a chopper home via a trip around the bay.
It was a apt way to finish 2017 for me, being taken out of your everyday world and plonked somewhere special for a few hours. I sort of feel like that’s how life’s become now I’m a mum: you get a break every now and then to appreciate time on your own and then its back to the new reality of life with a two year old. Which is wonderful and wondrous all at once.
2017 was really about letting go of my old life, a non stop merry-go-round of parties, events, fashion weeks, and everything in between. That simply can’t and doesn’t happen now I’m a mum, but I do still get to dip my toe into the water, and this outing to Domaine Chandon was no exception.
Even as I type this my toddler is sat on my lap, drooling onto my shoulder while she battles through incoming molars. A world away from flying a chopper to a winery for the day, but truly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Ok, minus the drool.
Happy new year everyone, see you in 2018!
