A soft romantic dress paired with accessories fresh off the runway — perfect right? One of the reasons luxury fashion houses like Chanel and Gucci have been able to stay afloat through things like the GFC is because sales of their handbags and perfumes boomed.
The 2000s saw double-digit growth in accessory sales year on year, and while things have slowed in recent times, by 2025 online luxury goods sales are expected to increase five-fold, according to a Bank of America Merrill Lynch report this month.
I’ve certainly contributed to the trend myself, knowing that I can wear a luxe handbag with a local designer for a look that could have been lifted straight off the streets during Paris Fashion Week.
And that’s what fashion’s all about, isn’t it? An ability and preparedness to style-up an outfit with pieces of varying origins, in a way that perfectly suits your own style. Minimal, romantic, goth or for the soft 70s vibe I’m going for here, thanks to these Chloé sunnies.
