In your imagination are the perfect pair of trainers, down to their shape, materials and colours. But, as they are a pure fantasy item, you’ve never seen them for sale – until now! that is, as Farfetch has created the marvelous MYSWEAR shoe service.
You become the designer with their 3D modelling function, where you choose everything from the colouring to the shoelaces, and everything in-between.
When I thought about my perfect pair of trainers, I recalled earlier years as an accessories designer and how I loved everything black and white. I’d read books on Coco Chanel, and looked to Helmut Newton’s black and white photography for inspiration for my own designs. Having had a break from designing for many years now, as soon as I was given the chance, I went back to my roots and used a monochrome pallet as my starting point.
The great novelty, I suppose, with using the MYSWEAR service, is that you get to choose from a seemingly limitless palette of materials; like suede, crocodile, ostrich and python – among others – meaning you’re in for a truly luxe experience.
I went for calf hair in white for an overall look, and then finished off with a black toecap in nappa leather. Simple, but made with incredible materials that, once chosen, will summarily be crafted by expert artisans into your unique creation.
It’s slow fashion where you start as the designer and enter a process that will take you from the comfort of your laptop, anywhere in the World, to Portugal for the manufacturing, by way of London for shipping.
As a soon-to-be mum, I’m on the hunt for gorgeous but practical shoes and accessories that will be fashionable all the time, and really enjoyed this whole process as I basically got to CHOOSE EXACTLY AS I WANTED. Which, as I’m discovering, is pretty key to the whole ‘nesting’ process.
