Valentino’s A/W 2015 Couture collection referenced Romanian folk embroidery and dipped into gorgeous historical folky fashion archives by using prints from dresses hand-painted in the 1960s.
For about a year now we’ve seen designers nod appreciatingly to 70s romanticism, with Dolce & Gabbana presenting floral maxi-dresses in dreamy chiffon and Burberry Prorsum serving up ethereal patchwork-printed dresses.
“The ’70s and all things bohemian emerged as Spring’s defining aesthetic—and this season, it’s back in a big way. With gauzy gowns, flares, and a spirit of globe-trotting eclecticism on catwalks from Burberry Prorsum to Lanvin, there’s no shortage of proof that peace and love are still in.”
I love 70s dresses so was thrilled to discover it’s considered a trend this year, and am excited at the prospect of someone perhaps taking things a step further and really playing with textures as well.
Here’s some looks that have inspired me and then the all-important shopping list!
