Well here we are again for another year and what a smashing start to the main days of racing for the spring carnival here in Melbourne.
Despite lashing winds and occasional rain, The Birdcage enclosure lit up with some of the tracks best dressed men and women. Inside the German themed Emirates marquee, model and blogger Tanya Gacic wore Toni Matichevski in a nod to Dior’s new look silhouette, while Lindy Klim looked gorgeous in lace Dolce & Gabbana and killer Christian Louboutins.
G.H.Mumm is the official champagne for the carnival and I’m told it’s in the region of 10 000 bottles that will be popped and consumed over the four major race days. It flowed alongside re-imagined German favourites such as veal schnitzel, sauerkraut and apple strudel, served in the Birdcage’s only sit-down restaurant.
So what did I wear?
On account of the weather, I had a last minute outfit change that saw me wear this gorgeous lace number from Will Hope Love. The Eternal Headonist supplied this Lisa Tan Millinery hat and I polished things off with a pair of limited edition heels from Florsheim. They ended up catching the eye of roaming reporter Tre Dallas who featured them on the Flemington VRC’s instagram account much to my delight.
Overall despite the freezing cold it was a smashing start to what is shaping up to be another exciting three days of racing, stay tuned!
