Obsidian, ink, onyx, noir, ebony: black.
If you’re going to try and recreate eye make up inspired by ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses, then I would imaging you’d be after the blackest of black pigment.
Enter Eye of Horus, an Australian brand developed to bring high quality products that can be used on sensitive skin. So how do they work?
There’s a range of products focussing solely on eye makeup, meaning the brand has spent a lot of time developing ingredients, pigment and colour of a really high quality. Not tested on animals and containing no animals products or parabens, there’s liquid or pencil liners, complimentary eye shadows and brushes in the range.
As you can see below, you can take your pick of application method, whether you’d like to create the perfect winged eye liner with the liquid define, or use the smudge tool for a smokey eye.
Pros: It’s black! I just loved the staying power of the pigment, the fact you could pretty much ‘draw’ on a perfect winged look in one application and that hours afterwards it was smudge proof. Overall all the products were really high quality.
Cons: Being a wax based product it does have staying power so you’ll probably need an oil based product to get it off, or to use heat. I use sorborlene or coconut oil and wipe it off before using a gentle face wash, but have found sometimes I have to do it twice. It’s not so much a con because it couldn’t be smudge-proof if it did come off, but if you like easy to remove makeup then this one’s not for you.
I wear winged liner a lot and have been really impressed with this Aussie product, I got loads of compliments when I wore it to an event recently and as you can see in the pictures, the pigment is just superb!
