La Diosa de Oro, meaning ‘Golden Goddess’ was the nickname for the first female bullfighter, Conchita Citron. Phoenix Keating’s collection draws from the garb of the Matador or ‘Traje De Luces’ in his collection presented yesterday at MBFWA 2014.
While keeping his aesthetic, ‘La Diosa de Oro’ explores a Spanish frame of dressing and using his signature 1950’s silhouette Keating creates a collection that is ultra chic and ultra wearable.
Utilizing modern fabrications such as neoprene as well as LED lights. ‘La Diosa de Oro’ was wearable, albeit in a very fashion forward way.
Keating has had incredible success in his four years in business, last year showing in New York to rave reviews along side being featured on Style.com.
“While most fledgling Australian designers are scratching their asses trying to fund the next collection, Keating has already done multiple solo runway shows/presentations in Sydney, including his Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia debut in April this year,” wrote Frockriter.com about the New York showing.
I very much enjoyed La Diosa de Oro and hope to see more of what Keating has to offer in the years to come.
