Do you keep things in your wardrobe that are ‘too good’ to wear or use? I try really hard not to, usually living by the mantra that you may as well wear it, especially if you love it.
In New York earlier in the year I was given this Brahmin Mini Arno Tote as a gift from my brother and sister in law. And I’ve noticed that I haven’t worn it all that much, because I absolutely treasure it. Which makes no sense right?!
And not just because it’s a lovely bag, because it was a gift from two very special people, because it symbolised my trip to New York (the Brahmin label is from Massachusetts in upstate New York where many of the leather bags are made) and because I had wanted one for such a long time.
I had a friend who’s dad would buy new clothes, say for example a shirt and put it immediately away, usually still in it’s packaging until such time as that shirt needed to be worn. There were rarely ‘just because’ situations for celebrating or wearing clothes for him.
So I’m curious about how we attach ourselves to clothes and whether we keep things that are special to us. Is it something you do? I’d love to know.
