When I read other blogs, I always enjoy the detailed photos, especially when it comes to layers or accessories. And I think it’s really easy to forget the same principal with your own blog sometimes. Case in point I had shot this post wearing the outfit as you see it in the top picture. But I knew that both layers underneath were interesting pieces in their own right, so I re-shot it trying to capture each layer individually.
I discovered the women’s retailer Aritzia while I was in New York and all I can say is that I wish we had it here. They do simple but interesting cuts in natural fibres- silk, linen and cotton and all at fairly reasonable prices. I only bought two pieces and of course, now I wish I’d bought ten.
I’m also wearing a new love in the form of this sweater from Melbourne label Feathers, which was founded by Margaret Porritt in 1972. It’s fab to see such an established label going strong, specially in a climate where other Australian fashion labels are either going under or really struggling. Unless you are travelling (see, I gave myself a pass there!) then I say do your best to support local. After all, what would Melbourne be without its ‘Fashion Capital’ crown?!
What I’m wearing:
Jacket: Wilfred, from Aritzia, New York
Sweater: Current season Feathers Boutique
Shirt: Sparkle and Fade from Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Treasures from the Ottoman, Sydney Rd Brunswick
