Have you ever sailed around Manhattan? I hadn’t considered it before my trip and I really didn’t want to end up on some boat or ferry crammed full of tourists (because you never consider yourself a tourist when you actually are just that) but my brother found this wonderful old topsail schooner called ‘The Clipper City’ run by Manhattan by Sail.
You can wander around its decks, watch the strapping deck hands hoist the sails (on board entertainment), have a drink and there is plenty of seating. I did the sail at sunset, they have numerous times throughout the day however starting at sunrise going right through into the evening.
We sailed around Ellis Island, right up to the Statue of Liberty and past the downtown Manhattan skyline. As I said it wasn’t something that I had put on my ‘list’ but I’m so glad that I did it as it’s really given me a different perspective on the city, literally and figuratively.
What I’m wearing:
Dress: Vintage, from a store around the corner from where I’m staying in the East Village
Necklaces: I bought the coins here as a souvenir of the city, the feather was a gift from The Gardener
Belt: An op-shop back home
