Following on from my previous post ‘Accessorise This,’ I thought I’d show you how I use things like my laptop case as a clutch for example.
I loved reading your response to the Targus survey that revealed it’s not what you do, but how you look that determines your chances of success in work and love.

“I interview both Men and Women for positions in my company. When they walk in for the interview, the first thing I do, is check out their shoes and nails. They do not have to be dressed in expensive clothes, or this seasons style, but a well groomed person gets points ahead of one who turns up with scuffed shoes and dirty nails!”

“I was a professional recruiter in a previous life so first impressions is everything. I would be sized up in the first 5 seconds by the way I presented myself so extra effort went into those important meetings. I don’t have as such great style as you but I love the laptop case. I too take my laptop everywhere but I wish there was a sleeker way to carry my charger cord :-s so annoying. I wish there was just a great stylish laptop carry bag – sleek and sexy like my Mac.”
And there were many others, make sure you check out ‘Accessorise This,’ if you want to put your two cents worth in!
Anyhow as I said in that post, there is only one of me which sees me wear many hats every day- presenting, marketer, photographer, writer, blogger- and it means that my cameras and laptop or iPad go most places.
I love a good clutch and handbag as much as the next gal, but sometimes I just need to keep it simple so rather than arrive looking like a bag lady, I just consolidate into a laptop case.
Case in point these photos where as you can see this Targus 13.3” Ultralife Thin Edge Sleeve. I’ve managed to fit my wallet, a paper note book, pen, iPad, lip gloss, sunnies and keys inside meaning I don’t have to carry more than one bag with me on this particularly outing which was a fashion week event.
Didn’t think it was entirely possible at first, but here are my tips for keeping things chic and simple:
- Find a gorgeous laptop case or bag that you can use as a clutch or handbag
- Pay attention to your nails, clean your shoes, brush your hair and iron your clothes. These things cost very little and shouldn’t take too much of your time but can make a big difference, especially for things like a job interview.
- Make sure your clothes fit, ill fitting clothes can make you feel uncomfortable and in turn you will fidget. This goes for your undergarments too ladies!
- Lipstick or lip gloss that’s applied so heavily it ends up on your teeth. Need I say more?! Less is sometimes more so just one swipe, not 3!
- Smile!
Do you have some tips for keeping it simple while looking chic? I’d love to hear!
