Not sure why, but lately I seem to have a lot of new jewellery in my life. It’s not an usual thing because let’s face it, I love accessories but these pieces are really special and I thought they deserved their own blog post.
I was watching ‘Joanna Lumley’s Greek Odyssey‘ recently on the ABC and was utterly inspired by her travels, stories and the people she met. She also wore some amazing gold jewellery I can only assume was an ode to the country in which she was touring, as the earrings that caught my eye were yellow, gold medallions.
I promptly went to my ‘go-to’ place when I’m looking for specific pieces (and not so specific, lets face it I’m properly addicted), Etsy. I did a search for ‘Grecian earrings’ and the yellow gold medallions you see below popped up.
What I really want is the entire collection from blogger Karla Deras for Roman Luxe, but I’m saving for an overseas trip later in the year and am on a very strict spending diet so my quirky, Etsy purchases will suffice. I absolutely adore what Karla has done with Roman Luxe and I’d love to one day collaborate with a jewellery/accessories label on something similar.
I digress!
The other jewellery is from Australian jewellery labels Liberte and Samantha Wills. The teardrop earrings below are the ‘Frida’ earrings that featured in my Christmas Gift Guide from Liberte. Inspired by a completely different culture than my Greek purchase, they are none the less divine in their delicacy and I also love that they are Australian.
The turquoise ring is Samantha Wills and was a boxing day purchase from St Frock. I managed to combine two of my favourite Australian brands/stores into one purchase when I picked up the ring as part of St Frock’s boxing day sale. I love, love, love St Frock run by the most amazing woman, Sandradee Makejev and of course, the woman behind the brand Samantha Wills is another hugely inspirational Aussie gal who designs divine jewellery.
I have the ‘Bohemian Bardot’ ring in white but have recently been really drawn to turquoise and lapis. I think this ‘Birds of the Moon’ ring but just combine the colours perfectly.
So there you go, some of the stories behind what inspires me and what I think about when I’m buying my jewellery!
