This coming weekend I’m donating my time to MC the fashion events at the ‘Fair@Square’ festival here in Melbourne, bought to you by Moral Fairgound. Whats this you ask?
Moral Fairground is a platform to help us reduce poverty by making ethical shopping choices. Their goal is to provide knowledge so that consumers can make an informed decision while raising awareness for fair trade and ethical business in Australia.
When they asked me to come on board I didn’t know a huge amount about the movement in Melbourne I have to admit. But through working with Susanna at Moral Fairground I’ve learnt that Melbourne is quite a hive for this kind of activism.
The Fair@Square fashion show presented by Savers demonstrates that fashion with a conscience can also be very, very cool. The mix of fair trade, recycled, organic, and sustainable items is just a small selection from the growing number of labels which are proving that fabulous fashion need not cost the earth
Knowing that I’d need something fabulous to wear, Obus were approached and asked: If we give you this fair-trade certified organic cotton can you make a dress for Lady Melbourne to wear?
A: Of course!
Obus is entirely Melbourne based and all of their garments are manufactured here. When you buy Obus clothing you can be happy to know that the money you spend stays here and supports local craftspeople and our local economy. It also means that they can ensure the highest quality. Obus is environmentally conscious and internationally respected.
Here is a little sneak peak a their Northcote store where I visited to pick up my dress last week and take a peek at their latest ‘Travellers‘ range of clothing.
