Classic wardrobe pieces can appear easily to some but in my case it’s taken years to learn likely long-term staples.
That’s not to say I haven’t owned classic pieces – blue jeans, a black leather jacket, a camel coat – but I also covet vintage dresses and pieces with interesting embroidery.
I do own more pieces that are considered ‘classic,’ and can understand why people build their wardrobes around this principal. It’s easy. You open up your wardrobe, and before you is a range of clothing that can easily be mixed and matched. Simple!
– But boring, perhaps? So I suppose that’s where details come in, like shoes, accessories and fine touches like stitching and custom embellishments. Or if you’re like me, you could try your hand at mixing vintage pieces with modern and hope you get it right. There’s no vintage in sight with this outfit, but I have tried my hand at choosing pieces that can be worn with different items in my wardrobe. A classic, leather motorcycle jacket always seems to be in fashion, and these embellished flats caught my eye because a/I’m out of heels for the time being and b/ they’re just gorgeous!
Let’s just say it’s an ongoing project that enables me to keep shopping – nothing wrong with that, is there?
