H by Hudson Kiver Boots: have I found my go-to winter boot?
Every winter it’s the same – a search for the perfect ankle boot. Not too high so they can be worn all day, reasonably soft for comfort, leather for durability and in either black or a neutral colour. I’ll usually buy two pairs, not necessarily the same brand but I like to have black and tan or beige for versatility. And this year I got sick of it, thinking to myself, ‘Surely there must be my perfect boot out there?!’ It feels wasteful to wear a pair of boots for one season, although if you popped in to the last Round She Goes market, I sold last years’ pairs for a song so at least they went to a good home!
I digress, these H by Hudson ‘Kiver’ boots were bought online late one night after trawling through reviews where people said they were mostly happy with them as the ‘perfect’ boot, just that you should go up a size as they run small. God bless the internet for online reviews when you shop online.
They were on sale so I thought, ‘Why not?’ and anticipated their arrival from Shopbop.com. Within days I had them on my feet and from the moment I slipped them on I’ve barely taken them off. They are extremely comfortable, the suede is soft and I love the leather sole and wood block heel. There’s no zip or elastic, you just slip your foot into the boot. It means that the opening is wide, and you might not like the ‘look’ of the boot in comparison to say a Chelsea boot that fits snug against your ankle.
But as an everyday, comfortable and stylish boot, this is a fabulous option and I think it ticks the ‘dream boot’ box!
