I’ve been preparing for the spring racing carnival for weeks, and ahead of the race dates approaching I thought I’d share what I’m going to wear.
Traditionally on Derby Day you would wear black and white, and so when I saw this Aiden Mattox Lace Ponte Dress from Will Hope Love I thought it was just lovely. I would usually steer clear of a black based dress, preferring a black and white ensemble like say, polka dots or something with more white or cream.
I really, really loved this dress however, and while I scrolled through their pages of dresses I kept coming back to this one. I think it’s the keyhole back, lace paneling, illusion yoke and 3/4 sleeves. Plus it can be worn again and again for different occasions.
I also love sleeves for the races, and a knee length dress. It’s slowly becoming completely unfashionable to wear either, with gals turning up wearing well, nothing more than a piece of fabric that covers body parts so they aren’t publicly indecently.
Perhaps I’m old fashioned, but there’s only one time when you can actually dress in race wear (read: not a night club) and it’s…the races.
I don’t have my bag, heels, jewellery or gloves sorted as yet, but that’s all a week away!
What I’m wearing:
Dress: Will Hope Love
Hat: I made it with materials from Lincraft, there’s a blog post about it coming soon!
