It’s just so hard for me to get out and about with my tripod at the moment because of the winter weather, so that’s why you are seeing so many shots of me sitting by the window. The light is nice and soft however which I find quite appealing to make do with what you’ve got. When ever I look back over the blog there is always a change to more indoor shots in the winter months but I always forget!
The necklace featured in today’s post is one that I found recently on eBay. I’ve had to postpone a trip to New York that was supposed to happen in May for a month due to nerve damage in my ear sustained after the ear infection that struck me down earlier in the year when I went to Hong Kong.
Anyhow(!)-
Two things that I had planned for my trip(amongst a list of like, a squillion others) was to do some serious shopping at J Crew and Diane Von Furstenberg. I’d been stalking items online, I knew in my head what I wanted- J Crew necklaces and jewellery and pure silk statement pieces from DVF.
So as the trip didn’t pan out and not to be deterred I set about trying to get my fix on eBay. No such luck as yet with DVF but I did find this necklace that I learned was part of a roaring trade of ‘inspired’ J Crew pieces out of China. I also bought it in grey from another seller and am awaiting it’s arrival so stay tuned for more where this came from.
And why did I purchase this and not the real thing? Well, I had no idea there would be so little on eBay of actual J Crew pieces for starters, and secondly this necklace cost me $14 with free shipping to Australia. FOURTEEN DOLLARS.
Most of the sellers had quite a few pictures and the items looked good, but if you are a long term shopper like me I’m sure you have a disappointing eBay story where the item arrives and its nothing like what you thought you’d purchased.
$14 was a gamble I was willing to take however, and I’m pleased to say it paid off. Now you all want to know where I purchased it don’t you?! There are actually quite a few sellers with them, but here is one with plenty of colour choices for you.
