Well well well, it’s finally come time that I can reveal possibly the most exciting news that I’ve been able to divulge in a while.
Westfield has just launched a campaign to find ‘The Westfield Insider,’ and yours truly is on the official judging panel. Fabbo Lady M, but just what is this ‘Insider’ you speak of?
- $100,000 salary plus benefits
- 12 month fixed term contract
- A chance to be the Westfield national shopping and fashion expert
If you’re a savvy shopper who loves finding great value this is your chance to apply for a rare and exciting role. As ‘The Westfield Insider’ you will stay up to date with ‘on trend, on budget’ fashion, sales, promotions and retailer news, with the aim of sharing your expert tips and advice with other shoppers. All the further information you could possibly need can be found at their website.
To get the word out about this AMAZING job Westfield have not only invited me to judge the finalists alongside Justine Cullen STYD Editor, but to really get inside the role of the day to day goings on.
Yesterday I spent the day down at Westfield Geelong as a sort of day-in-the-life exercise to find out just what it is to be ‘The Westfield Insider.’
The delightful Chelsea and Lauren gave me my brief:
Pick one of the following trends and style a complete outfit for under $200:
The Maxi Dress(or skirt)
Nautical
Military
Nude & Pastels
The Blazer
The romper
Coloured denim
Techno(digital print) dress
The outfit budget must cover all apparel, accessories and footwear.
So here is my day-in-the-life shopping challenge step by step….
I couldn’t start the day without lunch and coffee at The Bridge café.
I decided that I was going to play on the Nudes & Pastels, The Romper and The Blazer as an ensemble. First stop, as is usually the case for me: accessories.
I loved the colour of this bag, it jumped out at me immediately as soon as I set eyes on it.
I didn’t realise that Betts did such great bags, but as a first stop on my challenge I was mighty happy to have one key piece sorted.
Following on with accessories I hit up Diva next…
I couldn’t quite decide between gold and silver at first…
Does this necklace make my bum look big?
But managed to find the perfect chunky cuff that I knew was going to make the outfit!
Shoes glorious shoes were next on the agenda, and as I would normally spend the entire challenge budget just on shoes it was quite a challenge indeed. I’ll be honest and say that I wouldn’t normally shop at Payless Shoes, but was pleasantly surprised by the style and quality no less of what was on offer. Particularly if you want on trend and seasonal pieces like clogs that they had for only $49.
“I’m going to have to call you back, I’m shopping.”
I decided to pop on my outfit that I purchased en route to the shoe shop and was so madly in a rush that no photos were taken but I found the romper and a pastel coloured Blazer at Valley Girl, all for under $70. Score.
Option number one: good but something not quite right with the outfit…
Option number two: still going with black but I couldn’t quite decide if it was ‘perfect.’
Nude! But of course! Success at last.
I ended up getting the deal of two pairs, 2nd half price so the heels came in under budget. LOVE a great bargain! The manager at the store was so lovely and helpful, I felt like I could have stayed and chatted all day.
My shopping list:
Valley Girl Romper- $34.95
Valley Girl wool/cotton jacket: $29.95
Payless cork platforms: $29.95(half price as part of deal)
Betts blush coloured bag: $79.99
Diva Chunky bracelet: $14.99
TOTAL: $189.80
And here is the end result…
You can apply for the job here, hopefully I’ll see you as a finalist!
